Don’t let Belgrave’s stoic visage fool you, because when you hit play on his “Lift Me Up,” it will reward you with a superbly evocative vocal set.
The line in the song about a rose and it’s thorn perfectly sums up the theme of “Lift Me Up” as it is classically analogous to the femme fatal figure that Belgrave sings about. “You can lift me up, you can knock me down” are the words of a man in the grips of a destructively beautiful romantic interest.
The production here is amazing as well. Swirling an energetic flurry of dance beats, icy shimmers and vocal samples, the experienced Felix keeps the song up-beat without sacrificing the treacherous beauty of the theme. Enjoy!
