Sometimes art is more artsy than other art. Take this interesting piece of dystopian soul for example.
Blasé’s “On My Own” is unlike anything you have likely heard (and you’ve heard some pretty far out stuff on this website). It’s a hodgepodge of varying tempos, textures and evoked emotions strung up side by side like a banner, with only a thin line of transition between them. To be candid, it jarrs me, but in the same breath I’ll say that’s part of the allure to it. The same part of me that enjoys Bohemian Rhapsody enjoys the surprise of being strung through such a dynamic song, like running through a mansion where every room is decorated with a different theme. And it’s up to you and me to discover why the artists made it the way it is. Enjoy!
