Donna Missal masters the art of the bass line in her newest, “Sick.” And if you thought the ill bass is the hottest thing she has to offer, her infectious falsetto and industrial percussion will give you a serious fever.
The whole thing really gets under in your system in the best way possible. The vocals go from her cool and collected lower register, flicking off drops of emotion with every effortless flourish, to her honeyed falsetto and finally it slides down a slow slope of increasing modulation until the final, haunting notes. I don’t think it matters how much female-lead alt pop you’ve listened to, you’re not inoculated to this one. Enjoy!
