Exitpost may not be the artist that’s currently blowing up the Hypem feeds (yet) but his newest single is three minutes of day-brightening, balmy oriental-house that shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s called “Birthmark,” and it boasts ODESZA-like confidence, expert sampling, and an accessible Japanese aura – everything you didn’t know you wanted today. It’s definitely an instrumental focus, with the minimal lyrical work only adding another layer to a moving, coordinated river of twinkling samples and textures.
Speaking of Japan, actually, this track was conceived on a flight to said island country, rough drafted on a train to Tokyo, with the majority of the textures and samples coming from kid’s TV playing in the hotel. Enjoy!
