Alright first impressions? Oyster Kid’s “Lips” is a real bump n dance thriller, but it’s quirky enough to chase away those blase clouds that shadow the average search for truly good music.
On deeper inspection the ultra promising duo tickles our fancy with their offbeat pop, threading through hints of Foster the People and Grouplove with a little neo-50’s swing. As the internet society continues validating gritty reboots and noir pop with fervor (and often justifiably so), it is nice to hear a piece pull off a bright aesthetic with such ease.
Oh, and did I mention they were a mysterious LA duo? So +5 indie cred there….
